Kenneth Ralston, born in 1954, is a distinguished American visual effects artist and supervisor, currently serving as the Creative Head at Sony Pictures Imageworks. Ralston's career commenced in the early 1970s at Cascade Pictures, a commercial animation and visual effects studio in Hollywood, where he contributed to over 150 advertising projects. In 1976, he was recruited by Dennis Muren to join Industrial Light & Magic, where he played a vital role in bringing George Lucas’s visionary effects to life for the groundbreaking film Star Wars. Ralston dedicated two decades to ILM before transitioning to Sony Pictures Imageworks, where he eventually became president.

Ralston's remarkable contributions to cinema have earned him five prestigious Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects. His accolades include a Special Achievement Award for the stunning visual effects in Return of the Jedi (1983), as well as wins for Cocoon (1985), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Death Becomes Her (1992), and Forrest Gump (1994). Additionally, he garnered three nominations for his work on Dragonslayer (1981), Back to the Future Part II (1989), and Alice in Wonderland (2010). Renowned for his collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis, Ralston's legacy in the world of visual effects continues to influence and inspire future generations.
