Tanya Lapointe is a prominent Canadian filmmaker and former journalist, recognized for her impactful work in the film industry, particularly her 2020 documentary, The Paper Man (Lafortune en papier).

Lapointe's career began as an arts and culture journalist with Ici Radio-Canada, where she cultivated a deep understanding of storytelling and media. Her personal life intersected with her professional journey when she began a relationship with esteemed director Denis Villeneuve in the mid-2010s. In 2015, she transitioned from journalism to film production, taking on a role as a production assistant for Villeneuve's critically acclaimed film Arrival. This experience paved the way for her full-time departure from journalism in 2016.

Her directorial debut came in 2018 with the documentary 50/50, which aired on Radio-Canada and tackled the pressing issue of gender disparity within society. The Paper Man, which premiered at the Whistler Film Festival in 2020, garnered significant acclaim, winning the Audience Award and further establishing her reputation in the documentary filmmaking landscape.

In addition to her film work, Lapointe participated in the 2021 edition of Le Combat des livres, where she passionately advocated for Melchior Mbonimpa's novel, Le totem des Baranda.
