Peter Bohlin
Peter Q. Bohlin, born in 1937 in New York City, is a distinguished American architect renowned for his innovative designs and significant contributions to the field of architecture. As a founding principal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, which originated as Bohlin and Powell in 1965 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the firm into a prominent architectural practice with offices in Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, and San Francisco.
Bohlin's work has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects in 2010, which acknowledges his exemplary achievements in the profession. He is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA), highlighting his dedication and impact within the architecture community. Under his leadership, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson received the Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects in 1994, further cementing its reputation for excellence.
In addition to his architectural practice, Bohlin has contributed to academia as a guest design critic and visiting professor at various architecture institutions. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1958 and went on to obtain a Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was inducted into RPI's Alumni Hall of Fame in 2011, celebrating his lasting influence in the field.
