Murat Soydan

Murat Soydan, born Rüçhan Tercan on October 2, 1940, in Lüleburgaz, Kırklareli, was a prominent figure in Turkish cinema and theater until his passing on June 11, 2024. He completed his education in Lüleburgaz and Edirne before moving to Istanbul to pursue higher studies at the Academy of Economic Sciences. Alongside his academic pursuits, he also graduated from the Turkish Music Department at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. During his university years, he worked as a civil servant at Tekel.

Soydan's cinematic journey began in 1966 when he won a talent contest held by "Curtain" magazine, leading to his debut in the film "Armless Hero." Over the course of his illustrious career, he appeared in nearly 200 films and numerous television series, establishing himself as a versatile actor. He became known for his leading roles in popular films of the 1970s, sharing the screen with renowned actresses such as Türkan Şoray and Hülya Koçyiğit.

In addition to his acting career, Murat Soydan took on leadership roles within the film industry, including serving as president of the Association of Cinematographers. In 2016, he published a memoir detailing his life and contributions to cinema. His notable works include films like "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World," "Ayşem," and "Kahveci Güzeli," reflecting his significant impact on Turkish cinema.
