Donaldo Gugliermo "Dennis" Farina (February 29, 1944 – July 22, 2013) was a prominent American actor recognized for his compelling portrayals of law enforcement and criminal characters. He gained fame for his performance as FBI Agent Jack Crawford in the psychological thriller Manhunter and as the mobster Jimmy Serrano in the comedy Midnight Run. Farina also portrayed Ray "Bones" Barboni in Get Shorty, Cousin Avi in Snatch, and Walt Miller in the sitcom New Girl. On television, he was known for his role as Lieutenant Mike Torello in Crime Story and NYPD Detective Joe Fontana on Law & Order. From 2008 to 2010, he served as the host and narrator for the Spike TV series Unsolved Mysteries. His final significant television role was in the HBO series Luck, which debuted on January 29, 2012.
