Axelle Renoir
Axelle Renoir, born Fabienne Meignen on February 2, 1969, in either Josselin or Redon, France, is a talented singer and composer hailing from Brittany. With a career spanning several decades, she has released three studio albums and has made significant contributions to French cinema through her soundtracks for two films.
Renoir's musical journey began in her teenage years when she honed her skills at the Conservatoire de Rennes for three years. Her breakthrough came after winning a talent competition hosted by M6, which led to her signing with Warner Music in 1995. Her debut album, *Magnum et matinées dansantes*, featured the hit single “Lulu” and sold 30,000 copies. In 1996, she was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique as Newcomer of the Year.
Her sophomore album, *Rose*, released in 1998, showcased her growth as a songwriter, with notable singles including "Sous les shorts des Garçons" and "Treize juillet sous la Lune." In 1999, she actively participated in the Ensemble contre le Sida initiative, performing the duet "Les invités" with Alain Souchon.
In the early 2000s, Renoir made her mark in film music, composing for *Pretty Things* and *Gangsters*. Her third album, *La Plage*, released in 2003, included collaborations with Alain Souchon and featured backing vocals from Marion Cotillard. She continued to innovate with projects such as the environmental album *Ushuaia Nature* in 2007. Throughout her career, she has also contributed to various television productions, further solidifying her versatile artistry.
