Cheryl Chitty Tan
Cheryl Chitty Tan has earned acclaim for her dynamic performance as Yehenara in the celebrated musical Forbidden City, where she shared the stage with renowned artist Kit Chan.
Her journey in the performing arts began at just 15, when she took on the lead role in the production Little Violet and the Angel in Kuala Lumpur. Following her graduation from Wesleyan University, Cheryl honed her craft through various operas and theatre productions in New York before joining Singapore Repertory Theatre's Little Company.
Among her standout stage performances are Ivy Chan in Beauty World, the martial arts-savvy Mimi in Mama White Snake (produced by Wild Rice), Katy Tranh in Displaced Persons' Welcome Dinner (Checkpoint Theatre for SIFA), and the iconic role of Juliet in Singapore Repertory Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.
Her film credits include collaborations with esteemed directors Boo Junfeng on Parting (7 Letters) and Liao Jiekai in As You Were. More recently, she appeared alongside Gurmit Singh in Edward Khoo's short film The Meantime.
Cheryl made a notable impact on television as Prof. Sylvia Soo in Channel 5's Faculty, later reprising her role as Dr. Winnie Low in Derek and its sequels. Her versatility shines through in various roles, from a tenacious student journalist in Paddles Up! to a complex psychiatrist in Code of Law.
In addition to her acting prowess, Cheryl is a trained singing instructor at New York Vocal Coaching and has a passion for genres ranging from musical theatre to Malay classics. Represented by FLY Entertainment, she is also carving a niche as an engaging emcee, effortlessly transitioning between sophisticated and playful tones.
