Born in 1954 in Burlington, Massachusetts, Roger pursued a Bachelor of Science in wildlife management and conservation law at the University of Maine, graduating in 1977.

In 1982, he and his wife Kathleen launched K&R Landscape, a company dedicated to transforming outdoor spaces with both plant life and hardscaping features such as stone walls and patios. Roger was a certified landscape contractor in Massachusetts and held leadership roles in various professional organizations, including the Massachusetts Arborist Association and New England Grows. His hands-on approach and practical tips endeared him to audiences, making him a trusted resource for landscaping enthusiasts across the country.

Beyond his television career, Roger was passionate about mentoring aspiring landscapers and championed sustainable practices in the industry. He passed away in August 2024 after a courageous battle with illness, leaving a rich legacy of landscaping expertise and education. He is survived by his son, daughter, brother, daughter-in-law, and three grandsons, and he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathleen, who passed away in 2010.
