Gail Matthius is an accomplished American actress, voice artist, and comedian, best known for her work on NBC's iconic sketch show, Saturday Night Live (SNL). She was part of the cast during the challenging 1980-1981 season under the direction of Jean Doumanian, where she co-anchored the Weekend Update segment alongside Charles Rocket. Prior to her SNL debut, Matthius honed her comedic talents at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, eventually landing a spot on the show. Rolling Stone recognized her talent in 2015, ranking her 74th out of 141 cast members and highlighting her memorable valley girl character, Vicki, who served as a beacon of humor during SNL's tumultuous period.

Throughout her tenure on SNL, Matthius created several notable characters, including Roweena, a quirky Midwestern hairdresser, and Francis Lively, a game show host's wife. She showcased her versatility with celebrity impersonations, including parodies of Brooke Shields and Nancy Reagan. After leaving SNL, she appeared in the short-lived sketch series Assaulted Nuts and the syndicated Laugh Trax, where she revisited her valley girl persona.

Matthius also made a significant impact in voice acting during the late 1980s and 1990s, lending her talents to popular animated series such as Bobby's World, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Animaniacs. In addition, she is an active member of the Spolin Players Improv troupe and works as a drama coach in Pacific Palisades, California.
