Omar Abdi

Omar Abdi is a Finnish-Somalian actor and youth counselor, known for his dedication to empowering young people. Originally from Somalia, Abdi immigrated to Finland as a refugee at the age of eight. He spent his formative years in Finland, where he developed a deep commitment to youth advocacy, serving as a counselor for over two decades in the capital region.

Abdi’s journey into acting began serendipitously in a café, where he crossed paths with director Juho Kuosmanen, who was on the lookout for actors for his short film "Citizens" released in 2008. This encounter marked the onset of his acting career, allowing him to explore his artistic talents and share his experiences through film.

In 2023, Abdi made the decision to return to Somaliland, taking with him a wealth of knowledge and a passion for storytelling. His work both as a counselor and an actor has had a lasting impact on the communities he has served, bridging cultural gaps and fostering understanding.
