Bilal Hassani
Bilal Hassani, born on September 9, 1999, in Orsay, France, is a multifaceted talent known for his work as a singer-songwriter and YouTuber. He rose to international fame as France's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, performing his self-empowerment anthem "Roi," where he finished in 16th place.
Hassani hails from a Moroccan family, with his mother holding French citizenship and his father residing in Singapore. He has an older brother, Taha, and completed his literary baccalaureate in 2017. His musical journey began early, with singing lessons starting at age five.
In 2015, inspired by fellow artist Nemo Schiffman, he joined the second season of The Voice Kids, captivating audiences with his rendition of "Rise Like a Phoenix" by Conchita Wurst. Although he was eliminated during the battles, his talent did not go unnoticed. In 2018, he was named one of the "30 LGBT+ people who move France" by the magazine Têtu, highlighting his influence within the LGBTQ+ community.
