Johnny Leeze
Johnny Leeze, born John Glen, is a renowned British television actor celebrated for his memorable roles in popular series. He gained significant recognition for portraying Ned Glover on the iconic soap opera Emmerdale from 1994 until 2000. Before that, he captivated audiences as Harry Clayton in Coronation Street in 1985. Leeze’s acting journey began in 1982 with a minor role in Roy Clarke's beloved sitcom Open All Hours, marking the start of a fruitful collaboration with Clarke. He made several appearances in Last of the Summer Wine across the years, specifically in 1983, 1986, 1991, and 2002.
Throughout his career, Leeze showcased his versatility with performances in a variety of acclaimed shows, including Inspector Cox in The League of Gentlemen, Duffy Hayes in Phoenix Nights, and Bill Cooper in Early Doors. His extensive television credits also include roles in Common as Muck, Heartbeat and its spinoff The Royal, All Creatures Great and Small, Cracker, and Life On Mars. His sole film credit came in the comedy Blow Dry, where he played a journalist.
To distinguish himself in the industry, he adopted the stage name Johnny Leeze to avoid confusion with others named John Glen, including a notable James Bond film director. Leeze was previously married to Carol, with whom he shares two daughters, Nicola and Holly. Following their separation in 1983, he currently resides in Cleethorpes.
