Ted Robbins
Edward Michael Robbins, born on August 11, 1955, is a distinguished English actor, television presenter, and radio broadcaster. Currently, he captivates audiences with his Sunday morning program on BBC Radio Lancashire and hosts the Friday afternoon slot on BBC Radio Manchester.
Robbins has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry, particularly as a warm-up artist for various pre-recorded comedy shows filmed in front of live audiences. His work includes notable programs such as Granada Television's "Wood and Walters" and the beloved sitcom "Birds of a Feather." He lent his voice to the iconic game show "Catchphrase" from 1994 to 1996 and made a comeback during Roy Walker's final series in 1998 and 1999. Additionally, he was featured in the BBC's "Little Britain."
His acting prowess shone through in the critically acclaimed series "Phoenix Nights" (2001–02), where he portrayed Den Perry, the primary antagonist, and the Governor in "The Slammer." In 2012, Robbins appeared in the popular show "Benidorm" as Victor St. James, and he also played memorable roles in episodes of "Hank Zipzer" and "Diddy TV."
In January 2015, Robbins faced a health scare when he suffered a heart attack during a live performance at the Manchester Arena but has since made a remarkable recovery, shedding two stone. In 2020, he showcased his versatility by appearing in the reboot of "Crackerjack!" as one of the "Crackerjack Players."
