Tessa Niles

Tessa Margaret Niles, born on January 27, 1961, in Ilford, Essex, is a celebrated English vocalist renowned for her extensive work as a backing singer for numerous iconic artists. She launched her professional music career in 1979, quickly establishing herself as a versatile talent.

Over the years, Niles has collaborated with a diverse array of musicians, including legends such as Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and Tina Turner, along with contemporary stars like Kylie Minogue and Take That. Her impressive resume also includes contributions to projects with renowned acts like ABC, Duran Duran, and Cher.

In the mid-1980s, she took on a leading role in the jazz outfit Bandzilla, alongside her then-husband, Richard Niles. The band gained recognition as the resident house band for Channel 4's "Don't Miss Wax" in 1987 and released their debut album, "Blue Movies," in 1991.

Niles' work extends beyond live performances; she has lent her voice to a variety of commercials for brands such as Barbie, Levi's, and KFC. Her notable association with Eric Clapton began with his 1986 album "August," leading to extensive touring and performances, including the Unplugged concert and the prestigious Crossroads Benefit Concert.
