Nicky Grist

Nicholas Mark Grist, a distinguished former rally co-driver from Ebbw Vale, Wales, made significant contributions to the sport during his tenure in the World Rally Championship (WRC) from 1993 to 2002. Over the course of his career, Grist achieved remarkable success, securing victories in 21 rallies alongside various drivers. His journey in the WRC began with a notable win at the 1993 Rally Argentina, where he partnered with the legendary Juha Kankkunen, a three-time world champion at the time. This partnership culminated in a championship title for the duo in 1993, driving for Toyota.

In 1997, Grist transitioned to the 555 Subaru World Rally Team, teaming up with the iconic Colin McRae. Their collaboration proved to be incredibly fruitful, as they celebrated victory in 17 rallies and earned 27 podium finishes, accumulating a total of 183 points in the WRC standings. Grist remained by McRae's side until the Rally New Zealand in 2002, after which they continued to compete together in several one-off events until 2006. Grist's impressive career is marked not only by his victories but also by his pivotal role in the success of two of rallying's most celebrated drivers.
