Jacqueline Clarke

Jacqueline Clarke is a renowned British actress and comedian, celebrated for her dynamic performances on the popular sketch show "Dave Allen at Large." Born on February 13, 1942, in Buckinghamshire, England, Clarke entered the realm of acting with her debut in the television series "No Hiding Place." Her early career saw her feature in a variety of shows, including "Public Eye," "The Dustbinmen," "Hark at Barker," "The Adventures of Don Quick," and "Doctor at Large." In 1969, she expanded her film repertoire with a role in "Night After Night After Night."

In 1971, Clarke became a prominent sketch performer on "Dave Allen at Large," where her versatility shone as she embodied a wide array of characters, from alluring French women to stern nuns and chatty matrons. She remained with the show throughout its five-year run and its subsequent revivals.

Beyond this iconic role, Clarke's extensive career included appearances on "The Basil Brush Show," "Battle of the Sexes," "Mike Yarwood in Persons," and "The Mike Reid Show." She collaborated with notable figures like Kenny Everett and Kelly Monteith, and her credits also encompass titles such as "Rings on Their Fingers," "The Young Ones," and "Surgical Spirit."

In 1992, she took to the stage in Ray Cooney's play "It Runs in the Family" at London's Playhouse Theatre, sharing the spotlight with a talented cast. Clarke was previously married to actor Barrie Gosney until his death in January 2008.
