Meredith Edwards

Meredith Edwards, whose full name was Gwilym Meredith Edwards, was a notable Welsh character actor and writer, born in the coal-mining village of Rhosllannerchrugog, near Wrexham. He was the son of a colliery worker and received his education at Ruabon Grammar School. Edwards embarked on his acting career in 1938, initially performing with the Welsh National Theatre Company before moving on to the Liverpool Playhouse.

Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to film, appearing in a variety of projects including "A Run for Your Money" (1949), "The Blue Lamp" (1950), "The Magnet" (1950), "The Lavender Hill Mob" (1951), "The Cruel Sea" (1953), "The Great Game" (1953), "The Long Arm" (1956), "Dunkirk" (1958), and "Tiger Bay" (1959). Edwards also gained recognition on television, notably for his chilling role as the murderous butler in the cult classic "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)" in 1969. In 1975, he portrayed Tom in the beloved children's science fiction series "Sky," and he played Richard Lloyd in the 1981 TV series "The Life and Times of David Lloyd George." His diverse body of work left a lasting impact on Welsh theatre and film, showcasing his remarkable talent and versatility as an actor.
