David Holt
David Holt, born on October 15, 1946, in Gatesville, Texas, is a celebrated performer and guardian of traditional American music and storytelling. Renowned for his musical versatility, Holt can skillfully play ten different acoustic instruments and has earned four Grammy Awards throughout his illustrious career.
His discography features recordings that showcase traditional mountain music and Southern folktales, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the American South. In addition to his music, Holt has made significant contributions to public broadcasting. He hosted "Riverwalk," a jazz program, and "Folkways," a television series exploring folk music and culture. His work also includes "Great Scenic Railway Journeys" and "North Carolina Mountain Treasures" on North Carolina public television.
