Uldis Pūcītis (April 15, 1937 – December 14, 2000) was a prominent Latvian actor, director, and screenwriter known for his extensive contributions to television, theater, and film. Born in Ranka parish, Gulbene District, he was the son of Jānis and Anna Pūcītis. After completing his education in Ranka, he pursued further studies at the Latvian State Conservatory, graduating in 1959.

Initially, Pūcītis worked as a schoolteacher in Aizpute for four years while simultaneously building his acting career. His theater journey saw him perform at notable venues, including the Liepāja Theater from 1960 to 1972, the Dailes Theater from 1964 to 1973, and the Youth Theatre during two intervals from 1962 to 1964 and again from 1973 to 1992.

Pūcītis made his cinematic debut in 1959 with a minor role in the film "Svešiniece ciemā" (Stranger in the Village) and soon gained prominence after starring alongside Vija Artmane in "Purva bridējs," a film adaptation of Rūdolfs Blaumanis's novel. His prolific career spanned several decades, with memorable roles in both film and television.

In 1998, he co-wrote and co-directed the mini-series "Izpostītā ligzda" for Latvijas Televīzija, which earned the prestigious Lielais Kristaps award for excellence in Latvian cinema.

Pūcītis was married to Olīvija Pūcīte, and they had a daughter, Milēna Gulbe-Kavace, an accomplished actress, and a grandson, Ernests Gulbis, who is a professional tennis player. He passed away in 2000 in Riga due to a pulmonary embolism and was laid to rest at the Riga Forest
