Raymond van Barneveld
Raymond van Barneveld, born on April 20, 1967, is a renowned Dutch darts player widely recognized for his exceptional contributions to the sport. Known affectionately as "Barney," he initially gained recognition as "The Man." Van Barneveld's illustrious career is highlighted by five World Darts Championship titles—four from the BDO and one from the PDC. His impressive accolades also include victories at the UK Open, the Las Vegas Desert Classic, the Grand Slam of Darts, and the prestigious Premier League.
Throughout his career, he has twice claimed the World Masters title and the World Darts Trophy, in addition to triumphing three times in the International Darts League and once in the WDF World Cup Singles. A key player for the Netherlands, he has celebrated four PDC World Cup of Darts wins, partnering with Co Stompé and Michael van Gerwen, and he also secured the WDF World Cup Pairs alongside Vincent van der Voort. Furthermore, he won the PDC World Pairs title with Roland Scholten.
Van Barneveld made history in January 2009 when he became the first player to achieve a nine-dart finish at the PDC World Darts Championship during the quarter-finals. His remarkable achievements have solidified his status as one of the greatest players in darts history.
