Sharon Janny den Adel, born on July 12, 1974, in Waddinxveen, Netherlands, stands out as the lead vocalist and one of the primary lyricists for the renowned Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. Earlier in her career, she was part of a group called The Circle.

Den Adel's musical journey gained momentum in 1998 when she joined forces with Arjen Lucassen for the progressive rock project Ayreon, lending her voice to the character of Indian in the acclaimed album "Into the Electric Castle." In 2002, she showcased her talent on Timo Tolkki's solo album, "Hymn to Life," performing the heartfelt ballad "Are You the One?" Her collaborations extend to two albums by Avantasia, the project of Tobias Sammet, and she also contributed to the debut album of Delain, a band founded by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt.

On December 7, 2005, den Adel welcomed her daughter, Eva Luna, with Robert Westerholt, her partner and Within Temptation's guitarist. In 2008, she teamed up with prominent Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren for the hit track "In and Out of Love."

Den Adel continued to balance her family life and career, announcing her second pregnancy in February 2009, and giving birth to her son, Robin Aiden, on June 1 of that year. Her latest project, "An Acoustic Night at the Theatre," was released on October 30, 2009. Within Temptation's album "The Unforgiving" followed on March 28, 2011, coinciding with the birth of her third child, Logan, just two days later.
