Anna Karina (September 22, 1940 – December 14, 2019) was a Danish actress, director, and screenwriter who primarily made her mark in France. Renowned as a muse for director Jean-Luc Godard, a key figure in the French New Wave cinema, Karina's performances in films such as The Little Soldier (1960), A Woman Is a Woman (1961), and Vivre sa vie (1962) solidified her status in the film industry. She received the Best Actress award at the Berlin Film Festival for her captivating role in A Woman Is a Woman.

In 1972, Karina founded a production company and made her directorial debut with Vivre ensemble (1973), which was showcased in the Critics' Week section at the 26th Cannes Film Festival. Her directorial journey continued with the French-Canadian film Victoria (2008). Beyond her cinematic contributions, Karina was also a singer and an accomplished writer, authoring several novels throughout her life.
