Sue Baker

Sue Baker was a distinguished freelance motoring journalist, editor, and broadcaster, boasting over three decades of expertise in automotive testing and reporting on new product launches. She gained recognition as a presenter on the iconic TV series Top Gear, where she contributed for 11 years, and served as the motoring editor for The Observer. Her diverse portfolio spans various media platforms, including print, television, radio, and online publications.

As a prominent figure in the automotive community, Baker held the position of vice-president and previously chaired the Guild of Motoring Writers based in the UK. Her deep-rooted passion for automobiles began in her youth, leading her to a fulfilling early career managing a motor racing news service. Baker was not only a skilled journalist but also an accomplished competitor, having participated in track races and national rallies. Her remarkable experiences included driving a historic 1899 Benz in the London to Brighton event, as well as a modern hydrogen fuel cell vehicle from 2018.
