Cathy Downs
Cathy Downs (March 3, 1924 – December 8, 1976) was a notable American actress known for her work in film.
Hailing from Port Jefferson, New York, Downs kicked off her cinematic journey with a minor part in The Dolly Sisters (1945). The following year, she gained prominence by portraying the lead character in My Darling Clementine, which led to a series of roles in various genres. She subsequently starred in the prison drama For You I Die (1947) and appeared in the Abbott & Costello comedy The Noose Hangs High, along with several westerns that showcased her versatility.
As the 1950s approached, Downs found herself primarily in lower-budget productions, including science fiction movies. Her final film appearance was in Missile to the Moon, released in 1958.
Throughout the 1960s, she made occasional television appearances but faced a lengthy period of unemployment before she passed away in Los Angeles, California.
In recognition of her contributions to the television industry, Cathy Downs was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located at 6646 Hollywood Boulevard.
