Satsuma first donned the Godzilla suit in the 1971 film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" and continued to embody the character in several subsequent films, concluding with "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah" in 1995.

Before adopting his well-known stage name in 1984, Satsuma performed under the aliases Ryoma Kusaka and Kengo Nakayama.
