Eric Roberts, born on April 18, 1956, is a prominent American actor whose career took off with his acclaimed role in King of the Gypsies in 1978, which earned him his first nomination for a Golden Globe Award. He received another nomination for his compelling performance as Paul Snider in Star 80 (1983) and went on to garner both Globe and Academy Award nominations for his supporting role in Runaway Train (1985).
