Eric Roberts, born on April 18, 1956, is a prominent American actor whose career took off with his acclaimed role in King of the Gypsies in 1978, which earned him his first nomination for a Golden Globe Award. He received another nomination for his compelling performance as Paul Snider in Star 80 (1983) and went on to garner both Globe and Academy Award nominations for his supporting role in Runaway Train (1985). Over nearly four decades, Roberts has appeared in more than 200 films, including notable titles like Raggedy Man (1981), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), and The Dark Knight (2008). His television credits include three seasons of the sitcom Less than Perfect and roles in NBC's Heroes and CBS's The Young and the Restless. He comes from a family of actors, with his sisters Julia Roberts and Lisa Roberts Gillan, as well as his daughter Emma Roberts, also in the industry.
