Michael Griffin
**Biography of Michael Griffin**
Michael Griffin, a distinguished two-time Pro-Bowler, enjoyed a remarkable ten-year career in the NFL, representing teams such as the Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, and Carolina Panthers. After hanging up his cleats in 2018, Griffin transitioned into entrepreneurship, launching a Gigi’s Cupcakes franchise bakery near his hometown of Austin, Texas. He partnered with his lifelong friends, former NFL player Brian Orakpo and college peer Bryan Hynson, to turn this sweet venture into a reality.
Griffin's athletic prowess began at Bowie High School, where he excelled as a two-way player, serving as a running back and defensive back. His impressive high school achievements included receiving honorable mention for All-State Class 5A and being named the District 25-5A Offensive MVP. Alongside football, he earned letters in basketball and track, qualifying for regional meets.
In 2003, Griffin joined the University of Texas, where he quickly made a name for himself by blocking eight kicks, a record that still stands. By his senior year in 2006, he was recognized as a second-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12. Drafted 19th overall by the Titans in the 2007 NFL Draft, Griffin became the franchise’s all-time leader in tackles by a safety with 912.
Griffin's impactful career culminated with a one-day contract signing to retire as a Titan on May 6, 2018. Beyond football, he gained attention as the star of a popular Microsoft commercial alongside Orakpo. Michael resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Shantel, and their three children.
