John Watson
John Michael Watson, widely recognized by his ring persona Mikey Whipwreck, is an American professional wrestler who has transitioned into a role as a trainer and global ambassador for All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He gained immense popularity during his time with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), where he achieved the prestigious status of an ECW Triple Crown Champion. Whipwreck's accolades include winning the ECW World Heavyweight Championship once, in addition to holding the World Television Championship on two occasions and clinching the World Tag Team Championship three times.
Beginning his wrestling journey in 1994 with ECW, Watson quickly became known as the quintessential underdog, seizing his first title—the Television Championship. His notable partnership with Cactus Jack saw them capture the World Tag Team Championship twice between 1994 and 1996. At just 22 years old, he made history as the youngest ECW World Heavyweight Champion. After a brief departure in 1998, which included a stint with World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Whipwreck returned to ECW in late 1999. Upon his return, he teamed with Yoshihiro Tajiri under the moniker The Unholy Alliance, securing his third World Tag Team Championship, a partnership that lasted until ECW's closure in 2001. Since October 28, 2018, he has co-hosted the podcast Front Row Material alongside fellow wrestlers Jerry Lynn and Mike Freland, further showcasing his enduring presence in the wrestling community.
