Mick Collins, born on December 18, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, is a celebrated musician whose career has significantly impacted the garage rock scene. Growing up surrounded by the rich musical heritage of Motown and early rock and roll from his family's collection, Collins' musical journey began in earnest with his first band, the U-Boats, in 1981. He later joined the Floor Tasters from 1984 to 1985.

In 1986, at just 20 years old, Collins co-founded The Gories, a pioneering garage punk group known for its raw sound. The band, featuring Collins on guitar alongside Dan Kroha and Peg O'Neil, released three albums and five singles before disbanding following a European tour in 1992.

Following The Gories, Collins played with Blacktop from 1994 to 1996 and later contributed to the King Sound Quartet, which produced a single and the album *The Get Down Imperative* in 1997. His most notable project, the Dirtbombs, emerged from his creative vision, showcasing a diverse lineup and a unique double-drum, double-bass setup that solidified their distinctive sound.

In addition to the Dirtbombs, Collins has ventured into various musical endeavors, including the eclectic punk band Screws, which has released two albums since 1999, and the funk project Voltaire Brothers. He has also engaged in solo projects, producing music for artists like Andre Williams, and even acting in the film *Wayne County Ramblin'.* Collins continues to be a dynamic force in the music scene, showcasing his talents as a DJ and as a vocalist for the side project Man Ray, Man Ray.
