Cheryl Wagner
Cheryl Wagner is a celebrated children’s television producer who has won both Gemini and Emmy awards, captivating young audiences worldwide for decades. She is most renowned for her innovative creation, The Big Comfy Couch, a beloved series that has aired across numerous countries, including Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, and many others, reaching children from diverse cultures.
Wagner's journey began with significant roles as a performer and puppeteer on iconic shows like Fraggle Rock, where she collaborated with the legendary Jim Henson, as well as Mr. Dressup with Ernie Coombs, Today’s Special, and Sesame Street Presents Follow That Bird. These early experiences laid the foundation for her successful career in children's media.
Currently, she serves as the President of Periscope Pictures, Inc., a production company based in Charlottetown, where she spearheads the development of original screen-based content, including the engaging web series Bunny Bop! In addition to her production work, Wagner is an active member of the Writers’ Guild of Canada and plays an integral role on the board of Women in Film and Television (WIFT) – Atlantic. Her contributions to the industry have been recognized with the prestigious WIFT Wave Award, honoring her impact on Canadian film and television.
