Shy'm
Tamara Marthe, widely recognized as Shy'm, was born on November 28, 1985, in Trappes, a suburb of Paris, France. Growing up in a musically inclined household with a French mother and a father from Martinique, she developed a passion for music and dance at an early age. Influenced by genres like zouk and R&B, as well as artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beyoncé, she earned the nickname "Spicy Tam" for her dedication to dance.
After completing her baccalauréat at seventeen, Shy'm began recording demos while maintaining a low profile. Her big break came when Lebanese-Canadian rapper K.Maro discovered her talent, leading her to adopt the stage name Shy'm—a blend of "shy" and "Martinique." She made her debut in the music industry with the album *Mes fantaisies* in 2006, which showcased her R&B and pop influences. The single "Femme de couleur" achieved significant success, reaching number five on the French singles chart.
Over the years, Shy'm released six more albums, including the acclaimed *Caméléon* in 2012, which topped the charts and contributed to her three Platinum certifications. She has received multiple NRJ Music Awards for Francophone Female Artist of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2015. In addition to her music career, she won the second season of *Danse avec les stars* in 2011, partnering with dancer Maxime Dereymez, and she has also been a member of the Les Enfoirés charity ensemble since 2012. Shy'm continues to captivate audiences with her dynamic performances and evolving musical style.
