Gunnar Krantz
Erik Gunnar "Gurra" Krantz, born on April 20, 1955, is a distinguished Swedish sailor renowned for his extensive experience in international yacht racing.
Throughout his illustrious career, Krantz has made significant contributions to some of the most prestigious sailing competitions. He took the helm of notable vessels such as The Card in the 1989 Whitbread Round The World Race and Intrum Justitia in the 1993 edition. His leadership skills shone through again when he skippered Swedish Match in 1997 and Team SEB in 2001 during the grueling Volvo Ocean Race.
In addition to his achievements in ocean racing, Krantz has also played a pivotal role in Sweden’s pursuit of glory in the America's Cup, serving as skipper during the 1987 and 1991/92 campaigns. His dedication and expertise have not only earned him respect within the sailing community but have also contributed to the advancement of Swedish sailing on the global stage.
