Tito Gobbi (October 24, 1913 – March 5, 1984) was a prominent Italian baritone celebrated for his remarkable contributions to the world of opera. He launched his operatic career in 1935 in Gubbio, portraying Count Rodolfo in Bellini's *La sonnambula*. Gobbi quickly gained recognition, performing in Italy's leading opera houses and amassing an impressive repertoire of nearly 100 roles before his retirement in 1979. His performances spanned a diverse range of works, from Rossini’s *Il barbiere di Siviglia* and Donizetti to the iconic baritone roles of Verdi and Puccini, culminating in Berg's challenging *Wozzeck*.

In addition to his singing career, Gobbi ventured into stage direction in the mid-1960s, helming around ten operas that saw nearly 35 productions across Europe and North America, with a notable presence at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. His talent extended to film, where he appeared in or lent his voice to over 25 movies.
