Quincy Jones

Quincy Jones, born Quami Wallen, is a talented American stand-up comedian who gained significant recognition after fulfilling a heartfelt dream to record a comedy special amidst his battle with terminal illness.

A graduate of Middle College High School in Seattle, Washington, class of 2002, Jones found his comedic inspiration from the legendary Chris Rock. He began honing his craft in 2006 and relocated to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue comedy as a full-time career.

In 2015, Jones faced a life-altering diagnosis of Stage IV mesothelioma, with doctors estimating he had only a year to live. Undeterred, he underwent chemotherapy while friends organized a Kickstarter campaign to help fund his dream of a stand-up special. His compelling story captivated audiences, particularly after his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which helped the campaign go viral.

With the support of his community, Jones raised over $50,000, enabling him to film his highly-anticipated comedy special, "Burning the Light," at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on April 4, 2016. The special premiered on HBO on June 2, showcasing his unique perspective and humor, and solidifying his place in the world of comedy despite the challenges he faced.
