Michael Moritzen, born to actor Henning Moritzen and Betty Moritzen (née Krohn), is a distinguished figure in Danish theater. He completed his education as a director at the State School of Theater in 1978, followed by his training as an actor at the Acting School of Aarhus Theatre, graduating in 1981. Initially associated with Aarhus Theatre during the 1981-82 season, Moritzen later transitioned to a freelance career, showcasing his versatility on stage.

His notable performances include the role of Børge in "Dansen med Regitze" and a significant portrayal of a resistance group leader in "De nøgne træer." Moritzen has also taken on leading roles in various productions, such as the title character in "Don Ranudo" at Grønnegårds Teatret in 1989 and as Erasmus in "Erasmus Montanus" and the Admiral in "Pinafore" at the Danish Theatre in 1998.

In addition to his acting, Michael Moritzen served as the head of the acting program at the State School of Theater from 1999 to 2000. In 2001, he took on the role of artistic director at Folketeatret / Hippodromen, where he endeavored to refresh the theater's repertoire, although with mixed success. Throughout his career, Moritzen has made significant contributions to the Danish performing arts landscape.
