Münir Özkul

Münir Özkul (August 15, 1925 – January 5, 2018) was a distinguished Turkish actor celebrated for his contributions to both cinema and theatre. He was honored with the prestigious title of "State Artist of Turkey" in 1998, recognizing his outstanding achievements in the performing arts.

Özkul received his education at İstanbul Erkek Lisesi before embarking on his acting journey at the Bakırköy Halkevi theatre. His theatrical career flourished with the Ankara State Theatre and İstanbul Şehir Theatre, but it was his performance in Muhsin Ertuğrul's adaptation of "Fareler ve İnsanlar" that catapulted him to fame.

Transitioning to film in the 1950s, Özkul became a household name through his collaborations with director Ertem Eğilmez. He starred in iconic films such as "Hababam Sınıfı," "Şabanoğlu Şaban," "Mavi Boncuk," and "Namuslu," often alongside actress Adile Naşit. His filmography boasts over 400 works, including notable titles like "Edi ile Büdü," "Halıcı Kız," "Miras Uğruna," and "Gören Gözler."

In the 1980s, he also ventured into television, appearing in series like "Uzaylı Zekiye" and "Ana Kuzusu." Throughout his life, Özkul experienced four marriages and was a father to three children, including with his second wife, actress Suna Selen. His legacy endures as a cornerstone of Turkish entertainment.
