Manushyaputhiran, born S. Abdul Hameed in 1968 in Thuvarankurichi, Tiruchirappalli district, is a distinguished Tamil poet and a committed supporter of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) political party. He embarked on his literary journey in the early 1980s, making waves with the publication of his first poem at just 16 years old. His early promise was recognized in 2002 when he received the prestigious Sanskriti National Award, honoring his significant contributions to Tamil literature as an emerging voice.

Over the past twenty years, Manushyaputhiran has seen his poetry featured in renowned Tamil publications such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam, Kalki, and Kalachuvadu. In addition to his poetic works, he contributes insightful political commentary and topical pieces to Tamil periodicals like Kungumam, Nakeeran, and the widely-read daily, Dinamalar. His writings often reflect his progressive stance on critical social issues, including the abolition of capital punishment, dismantling the caste system, and advocating for women's liberation.

Currently based in Chennai, he is the driving force behind Uyirmmai Publications and the Uyirmmai magazine, which serve as platforms for contemporary Tamil literature and thought. On August 19, 2015, he further solidified his political engagement by officially joining the DMK, continuing his commitment to social justice and progressive values.
