Daniel Casey

Daniel Casey is a distinguished English actor, renowned for his portrayal of DS Gavin Troy in the acclaimed television series Midsomer Murders, where he graced the screen for the first six seasons. His acting repertoire extends to various notable television productions, including Our Friends in the North, Steel River Blues, and Marchlands, showcasing his versatility and talent.

Born in 1972 in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, England, Casey pursued a degree in English literature at Durham University before honing his craft at the Drama Centre London. His professional acting career began in 1996 with a touring production of Dead Fish, and shortly thereafter, he made his television debut in the BBC series Our Friends in the North.

In 1997, Casey joined the cast of Midsomer Murders as the beloved DS Gavin Troy, a role that would become synonymous with his name and secure him a place in the hearts of fans. Following his departure from the show, he continued to excel in the television landscape with appearances in Steel River Blues, Marchlands, and even the iconic soap Coronation Street. Additionally, he has made his mark on the big screen with performances in films such as The Last King of Scotland and The Damned United.

Outside of his acting career, Casey is happily married to Ellie Casey, and together they have two sons. A passionate supporter of Sunderland AFC, he remains engaged with his local community.
