Laura Hidalgo
Laura Hidalgo (May 1, 1927 – November 18, 2005) was a talented actress born in Bessarabia, who later became a prominent figure in Argentine cinema. Originally named Pesea Faerman Postolow, she and her family relocated to Buenos Aires during her childhood, where her artistic journey began.
Hidalgo's acting career spanned across three countries—Mexico, Spain, and Argentina—where she starred in a total of sixteen films. Her striking resemblance to the renowned Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr often drew comparisons between the two. Notably, in 1954, she received an Ariel Award nomination for Best Actress for her compelling role in "Las tres perfectas casadas" (1953), solidifying her status in the film industry.
In 1958, Laura chose to step away from the silver screen after marrying an architect, marking the end of her acting career. The couple eventually settled in Mexico, where she lived for several years before relocating to the United States later in life.
Despite her relatively brief career, Hidalgo's contributions to film remain memorable, and her legacy persists through the works she left behind. Her journey from Bessarabia to international stardom showcases her remarkable talent and the enduring impact of her performances.
