Michael Pfleghar
Michael Pfleghar, born to a manufacturing family, began his career in the entertainment industry as an editor before ascending to the role of assistant director at SDR in Stuttgart in 1954. By the late 1950s, he had transitioned into television direction, joining Bavaria Film in Munich under the guidance of Helmut Jedele. From 1959 to 1963, Pfleghar served as chief director, establishing himself as a prominent figure in German television before embarking on a successful freelance career.
Pfleghar became renowned for his innovative programming, earning recognition as one of Germany's leading television directors. His notable works include the acclaimed 1967 music special "A Man and His Music plus Ella plus Jobim," featuring legends Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Antônio Carlos Jobim. During this period, he also had a personal relationship with Tina Sinatra while living in Munich.
He directed popular shows such as "Wünsch Dir was" and the beloved comedy series "Klimbim" from 1973 to 1979, where he also had a five-year relationship with actress Ingrid Steeger. In 1990, he co-founded the association Lobby für Kinder with Ursula Pfeiffer in Nuremberg, aimed at assisting underprivileged children.
Pfleghar's personal life included marriages to pop singers Bibi Johns and Inge Brück, a long-term relationship with Wencke Myhre, and a daughter from his relationship with Corinne Pulver. Tragically, he took his own life in 1991, leaving behind a legacy remembered by many. He was laid to rest in the family plot at Stuttgart-Degerloch's forest cemetery.
