Jean-Michel Ribes, born on December 15, 1946, in Paris, is a multifaceted French artist known for his contributions as a playwright, screenwriter, theater director, filmmaker, and actor. He has held the position of managing director at the Théâtre du Rond-Point since 2002, where he has made a significant impact on the French theatrical landscape.

Ribes gained recognition in the early 1980s when he directed the acclaimed series “Merci Bernard” from 1982 to 1984. He has been involved with the theatrical production “Palace” since its inception in 1988, showcasing his long-term commitment to innovative comedy. In 2008, he co-wrote and directed “Batailles” alongside Roland Topor, demonstrating his collaborative spirit. The following year, he directed “Un garçon impossible,” a play by Petter S. Rosenlund, as well as “Les Diablogues” by Roland Dubillard.
