Abigail Tarttelin
Abigail Tarttelin is a multifaceted talent recognized as an author, screenwriter, actress, and musician. Hailing from North East England, her passion for the arts ignited at an early age, as she became involved in theatre at just eight years old. By 14, she was among the inaugural members of the National Academy of Gifted and Talented Youth, positioning her academic skills within the top 5% of her peers. She excelled in her studies, achieving an impressive 10 A* GCSEs and 5 A grades at A Level.
At 16, Abigail honed her acting skills with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, landing a lead role in their 2007 season. She furthered her education by studying 'Acting for Film' at the New York Film Academy in France, featuring in over 20 short films. Notably, "La Geode," directed by Theresa Hong, was showcased at prestigious film festivals in New York, LA, and Strasbourg. In 2008, she acted in the film adaptation of Philip Pullman’s "The Butterfly Tattoo," released in 2009, alongside the British gangster film "Jack Says," marking Mike Reid's final performance. Her role in the sci-fi feature "Schrodinger's Girl" premiered at Comic-Con's Independent Film Festival, earning her recognition as a 'One to Watch' by Moviescope Magazine.
As a novelist, her acclaimed work "Golden Boy" presents a groundbreaking narrative with a pro-intersex message, garnering numerous accolades, including an Alex Award and being a LAMBDA Literary Award finalist. Beyond writing, she contributes to various publications, including The Guardian and The Independent, and is currently adapting "Golden Boy" for the screen with Duck Soup/BBC Films. Residing in London, Abigail continues to travel and work internationally, enriching her artistic journey.
