Jimmy Shaw
**Biography of Jimmy Shaw**
Jimmy Shaw is a versatile American actor known for his work across film, television, and theater. Originally from Los Angeles, he spent his formative years in coastal Massachusetts before heading to New York on a journalism scholarship to The School of Visual Arts. It was here that a classmate invited him to audition for a scene partner role in Uta Hagen's esteemed class at HB Studios. Jimmy, who had no lines in Lyle Kessler's "Orphans," was astonished to receive an acceptance call from Ms. Hagen, who recognized his strong listening skills and presence. This pivotal moment ignited his passion for acting, prompting him to study with renowned mentors like Warren Robertson, Wynn Handman, and Michael Shurtleff.
Shaw's New York stage debut came in Charles Busch's Off-Broadway comedy "The Lady In Question," where he portrayed Karel, a brainwashed youth. His television credits include guest roles in popular series such as "Major Dad," "Beverly Hills 90210," and "Will and Grace." In 2001, he moved to Spain to learn Spanish, ultimately landing a recurring role as Matthew on the hit comedy "La Que Se Avecina," which significantly raised his profile in the Spanish-speaking entertainment industry.
He also garnered acclaim for his performance as Peter Fox in the acclaimed Netflix miniseries "El Tiempo Entre Costuras." Balancing his career between Madrid and Los Angeles, Shaw has participated in numerous Spanish productions and recently reprised his role in "El Ministerio del Tiempo" for its second season. His theatrical prowess was notably recognized in 2008 when he received critical acclaim for his solo performance in "Dream Man" at the Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles, with performances in Dublin, Edinburgh, and Madrid further solidifying his reputation as a compelling actor.
