Jack Albertson (June 16, 1907 – November 25, 1981) was a versatile American character actor whose career began in vaudeville. As a talented comedian, dancer, singer, and musician, Albertson is best remembered for several iconic roles. He portrayed Manny Rosen in the classic film The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and brought to life the character of Grandpa Joe in the beloved 1971 adaptation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Additionally, he voiced Amos Slade in the animated feature The Fox and the Hound (1981) and starred as Ed Brown in the popular television sitcom Chico and the Man, which aired from 1974 to 1978.
