Troy Powell, originally from Oregon and raised in Marshall, Texas, has made a significant mark in the world of educational theatre. For the past 24 years, he has served as the Theatre Director at Union Public Schools, where his innovative approach has earned him four consecutive Tony nominations for Excellence in Theatre Education.
In addition to his educational role, Troy is the visionary founder of Comedy 101, a comedy improvisational troupe that has entertained audiences across the United States. His passion for directing is evident in his extensive portfolio, having led over 100 productions, both at Union and in various community theatre settings.
Troy is also a talented writer, having crafted numerous short stories, plays, and screenplays, including works like "Bucket List," "Our Story," "My Maestro," and "To Thine Own Self." His ability to blend storytelling with theatrical performance has contributed to his reputation as a creative force in the arts.
Currently residing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Troy balances his professional life with his personal one, enjoying family time with his wife and their four children. His dedication to theatre and education continues to inspire both students and audiences alike.
