John Williams
John Benson Williams, widely recognized in the wrestling world as Ian Rotten, is a prominent American professional wrestler with a career spanning several iconic wrestling promotions. Born in Florida and later raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Williams was inspired by legends like Dusty Rhodes and "Superstar" Billy Graham. He embarked on his wrestling journey under the ring name Johnny Lawler, portraying the storyline illegitimate son of Jerry "The King" Lawler.
After a brief period wrestling as the hockey-themed Zach Blades, Williams made his mark in the Global Wrestling Federation (GWF), where he teamed up with Brian Knighton to form the notorious tag team known as The Bad Breed. The duo captured the GWF Tag Team Championship in January 1993, a title they would soon lose. Transitioning to Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in June 1994, The Bad Breed engaged in fierce rivalries, particularly with The Public Enemy, although they never secured the ECW Tag Team Championship.
Following his departure from ECW in late 1995, Williams relocated to Kentucky, where he launched a wrestling hotline and founded the IWA: Mid-South promotion in 1996. Known for its violent and hardcore wrestling style, IWA drew both attention and controversy, leading to an investigation by the Indiana State Police in 2008. Although IWA ceased operations in 2011, it was revived by a third party, with Williams making occasional appearances. Notably, he is the father of John Calvin Glenn, who competes under the ring name J.C. Rotten.
