Chris Kanik, the son of immigrant parents, embodies the pursuit of the American Dream. His journey into the world of scientific research began at just 12 years old, when he gained access to a laboratory at Stevens Institute of Technology. There, he utilized high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to investigate the chemical breakdown of aspartame in diet sodas under various storage conditions. By age 14, he was already a Research Assistant at Rutgers University, focusing on adipocyte metabolism in genetically modified mice. His early experiences laid a solid foundation for a career dedicated to innovation.

Kanik continued his research at Rutgers' Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, contributing to the conceptual development of biologically inspired nanorobots. He pursued higher education at Cornell University as an American Chemical Society Scholar, where he not only excelled academically but also demonstrated his leadership skills as a Student Manager, overseeing over 70 employees. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Instead of following a traditional career path, Kanik ventured into stand-up comedy in New York City. His entrepreneurial spirit sparked in 2011 during a taco Tuesday, leading him to create encapsulated ethanol in his kitchen after a frustrating wait for a drink. This innovation resulted in the founding of Smart Cups. Driven by his experiences and a desire to enhance global resource accessibility, Chris Kanik continues to challenge the status quo with his forward-thinking solutions.
