Derrick Gilliam
Derrick Gilliam was born in Lansing, Michigan, to parents Joann Gilliam and Earl Black. He showcased his athletic prowess as a standout basketball player at both Lansing Sexton High School and Sam Houston State University, earning a scholarship for his skills on the court. Despite his success in basketball, Derrick's true passion lay in acting, which he pursued alongside his sports career.
His acting journey began in 2011 when he was selected to be Tyler Perry's stand-in for the film *Alex Cross*. This opportunity ignited a fervent desire within Derrick to explore the world of acting, leading him to actively seek out more roles in the industry. Since then, he has steadily built a portfolio of work, establishing himself as a dedicated performer.
Derrick is a family man, happily married to Tameka Gilliam. Together, they are the proud parents of four children: Rayshawn Blackmon, Dominic Gilliam, Danyae' Pugh, and Denver Gilliam. He comes from a close-knit family, with two brothers, Brandon Gilliam and Jason Black, and a sister, Tammy Black. As he continues to pursue his acting dreams, Derrick remains committed to balancing his family life with his burgeoning career in the entertainment industry.
