Martin Christopher Bayfield, born on December 21, 1966, in Bedford, England, is a distinguished former rugby union player renowned for his towering presence on the field as a lock forward. Standing at an impressive 208 cm (6 ft 10 in), Bayfield enjoyed a successful career playing for Northampton Saints and Bedford Blues, as well as representing England on the international stage, earning 31 caps, along with 3 caps for the British and Irish Lions.

Bayfield made his debut for the England national team in 1991 and played a pivotal role in the 1992 Five Nations Grand Slam-winning squad. Although he was not part of the 1991 World Cup team, he toured New Zealand with the British Lions in 1993 and was included in the 1995 World Cup squad. During his time with England, he frequently partnered with the legendary Martin Johnson, making a significant impact in 18 matches.
