Ljubiša Samardžić

Ljubiša Samardžić (1936-2017), affectionately nicknamed Smoki, was a distinguished Serbian actor and director whose legacy continues to resonate in the world of entertainment. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Šurda in the popular Yugoslav television series "Vruć Vetar." Born into a coal miner's family, Samardžić showcased his acting prowess from a young age, earning a scholarship under the guidance of the esteemed director Bojan Stupica.

After completing his studies at the Belgrade Drama Arts Academy, he made his professional debut in the 1961 production "Igre na skelama." Throughout his career, Samardžić became renowned for his versatile performances across various mediums, including film, television, and theater. His contributions to the arts were not limited to acting; he also took on directing roles that further showcased his creative vision.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Samardžić was involved in politics, serving as a member of the Central Committee of the Yugoslav Communist Party during the late 1980s.
